The Church in Thyatira

To the Church in Thyatira

To the Church in Thyatira. This letter can be found in the Book of Revelation. The Bible is filled with symbolism and is revealed as we awaken. What was John telling the people when he wrote to the church in Thyatira?

The Bible is the telling of a psychological story, one that takes place within man. Awakening begins at the end of Revelation and unfolds from Revelation through Matthew. The Old Testament is a foretelling of the New Testament. Imagine, if you will, that all you have been taught about the Bible is not altogether true. The knowledge of the universe resides within you.

John writes: “To the angel of the church in Thyatira write:

These are the words of the Son of God, whose eyes are like blazing fire and whose feet are like burnished bronze. I know your deeds, your love and faith, your service and perseverance, and that you are now doing more than you did at first.

In this passage, John is writing To the church in Thyatira and telling of what he saw. The son of God is personified as David in scripture. David represents awakened humanity. John is writing about what he is experiencing through visions and dreams. The church is the body of Christ, which is all of humanity. In this case, the men and women of the church of Thyatira are addressed. The son of God knows every man’s deeds, love, faith, service, and perseverance.

Jezebel

Nevertheless, I have this against you: You tolerate that woman Jezebel, who calls herself a prophet. By her teaching, she misleads my servants into sexual immorality and the eating of food sacrificed to idols. I have given her time to repent of her immorality, but she is unwilling. So I will cast her on a bed of suffering, and I will make those who commit adultery with her suffer intensely unless they repent of her ways. I will strike her children dead. Then all the churches will know that I am he who searches hearts and minds, and I will repay each of you according to your deeds.

Sexual immorality has nothing to do with the act of sex. It is our unlovely thoughts and desires which manifest.  Eating food sacrificed to idols are truths that are not the word of God. A Jezebel is someone who is morally shameless.

Authority

Now I say to the rest of you in Thyatira, to you who do not hold to her teaching and have not learned Satan’s so-called deep secrets, ‘I will not impose any other burden on you except to hold on to what you have until I come.’

To the one who is victorious and does my will to the end, I will give authority over the nations- that one ‘will rule them with an iron scepter and will dash them to pieces like pottery just as I have received authority from my Father. I will also give that one the morning star. Whoever has ears, let them hear what the Spirit says to the churches.

John is saying To the church in Thyatira that when one hears the word of God, they must change their state of consciousness. Adultery is the act of thinking an unlovely thought. The children are the manifestations of unlovely thoughts. We are all the Sons of God and bear the fruits of what we sow. If we sow unlovely thoughts, we will reap according to those thoughts. The letter to the church of Thyatira was John telling of what he saw so that the churches could take heed and change their ways.
