Overcoming Anxiety

Overcoming anxiety and clearing self-doubt seemed like a tedious process for 40+ years.  That struggle is fast becoming a distant memory, though.  Where did all of the anxiety and self-doubt come from? I honestly cannot say with absolute certainty.  Those thoughts and feelings perpetuated themselves and created a vicious cycle. That made overcoming anxiety very difficult for many years.

I have not dealt with anxiety for a couple of years.  The feelings of doubt subsided and have all but disappeared.  What purpose did all of that anxiety and self-doubt serve?  No real purpose other than bringing me to this place of being able to share my experiences.  I’m happy to do so, but what a rough way to travel through life.

Mindset is Essential

I will hammer this point home as often as possible – mindset is essential for overcoming anxiety!  I don’t just mean reciting positive affirmations but working on shifting your mindset and assumptions.  That means being mindful of your thoughts and inner conversations throughout the day.  How many thoughts are based on past experiences, what others have told you, or what you’ve assumed to be true about yourself?  Which of those thoughts aligns with the person you want to be?  Think about it.  Think about it!

If your thoughts do not align with who you want to be, you must change them!  It would help if you changed them, and you need to persist until you believe you are who you want to be.  I am telling you that it works!  Persistence is vital, though.  If you can persistently change your thoughts to align with who you genuinely want to be, you will begin to notice a change.  You’ll find that your mood starts to shift, you worry less, you feel more confident, and so on.

Put it to the Test

I can say it 1000 times, but unless you truly put it to the test and be persistent, you’ll never know.  I’m here, anxiety and depression free after 40+ years.  I honestly wish that every person dealing with anxiety or depression could feel the same sense of freedom.  Please try it! Change your thoughts and be the person you want to be.
