Conscious Beliefs

Conscious beliefs: what you choose to believe can change your life. What do you believe to be true? This fundamental question shapes your reality. Your belief makes it so. Inspired by a moment of reflection during my nightly skincare routine, I recorded a short YouTube video titled “Your Belief Makes It So.” This post delves deeper into that topic, exploring how our beliefs shape our lives and how we can change them to create a better future.

The Spark of Realization

One evening, while doing my skincare routine, I realized I was about to run out of an expensive moisturizer. I thought: “I don’t want to spend that kind of money; a less expensive brand will work.” This moment of hesitation led me to question my beliefs about skincare products. Do I believe more expensive moisturizers work better? Not necessarily. However, if beliefs (and assumptions) harden into fact, I can choose to believe that all moisturizers work the same, regardless of price.

This seemingly insignificant thought made me realize how many beliefs we accumulate throughout our lives. These beliefs shape our daily experiences and decisions, no matter how small.

Habitual Beliefs

So, what do you believe? What beliefs have you been carrying around based on habit? I had a friend who hated Tuesdays. To him, nothing ever goes right on a Tuesday. This belief solidified into his reality; sure enough, Tuesdays were always the worst day of the week for him. This is a clear example of how beliefs, even those formed casually, can profoundly impact our lives.

When you think of random thoughts, could you take a moment to consider them? Is the thought a belief you have been carrying, and if so, would you like to change it? If yes, it’s time to create a new belief.

Changing Beliefs

Changing beliefs, even the small ones, can shape your future. Start by identifying your current beliefs. Sit down and write out some of your beliefs. You might be surprised at what comes up. Perhaps you have been carrying around an old belief from childhood that you would like to change. Remember, we do not need to hold on to old beliefs if they no longer serve us.

Steps to Change Your Beliefs

    1. Identify the Belief: The first step is awareness. Pay attention to your thoughts and identify beliefs that limit you.

    1. Question the Belief: Ask yourself why you hold this belief. Is it based on personal experience, societal norms, or something someone else told you?

    1. Challenge the Belief: Consider the evidence that contradicts the belief. For instance, if you believe you are bad at math because of poor grades in school, think about times when you solved math problems successfully.

    1. Create a New Belief: Replace the old belief with a new, empowering one. For example, instead of “I am bad at math,” adopt the belief “I am capable of improving my math skills.”

    1. Reinforce the New Belief: Practice the new belief through affirmations, visualization, and actions that align with it. Over time, this will help solidify the new belief in your subconscious.

The Power of Small Changes

Even small changes in belief can lead to significant transformations. Consider the belief about expensive moisturizers. By changing the belief that only expensive moisturizers work, I opened myself up to a broader range of products, potentially saving money without compromising on skincare.

Another example is the belief about specific days of the week. If my friend believes that Tuesdays can be just as good as any other day, he might start noticing positive things happening, transforming his day experience entirely.

Practical Exercise

If you have a few moments, try this exercise:

    • Write Down Beliefs: List some beliefs about yourself, others, and the world.

    • Evaluate Each Belief: Ask yourself if each belief serves you or limits you.

    • Choose Beliefs to Change: Identify beliefs that you want to change.

    • Create Affirmations: Write new, positive affirmations to replace the old beliefs.

    • Daily Practice: Repeat the affirmations daily and look for evidence that supports your new beliefs.

Conclusion

Your beliefs shape your reality. By consciously choosing and changing your beliefs, you can transform your life. Take the time to examine your beliefs, challenge those that no longer serve you, and adopt new, empowering ones. Remember, your belief makes it so. Embrace this power and start creating the life you desire.
