The Dungeon
Finding myself in the dungeon was far different from anything I could have imagined. Yet, on the night of January 10, 2020, I embarked on a vivid dream. The dream comprised several distinct scenes, each leaving its mark on my consciousness. The first scene depicted me behind the wheel, traversing a path whose details elude my memory. All I recall is the sensation of driving towards an unknown destination.
In the subsequent scene, the events unfolded in such a personal manner that I prefer to keep them confined within the depths of my thoughts. However, what I intuitively grasped from that experience was the significance of refraining from reacting to the illusions of the outer world—the three-dimensional reality that can often deceive us.
The subsequent scene lacked clarity, but upon awakening, one word lingered in my mind: “steel.” Although the specifics eluded me, this elusive term seemed to hold meaning beyond its literal interpretation.
Finally, the last scene unfurled, plunging me into the depths of the dungeon. I stumbled upon entry, hearing the resounding thud of a massive, iron door sealing shut and locking behind me. As I turned to face the door, my gaze veered to the right, revealing a sturdy, balding man standing beside a steel table. His bare chest and rubber apron hinted at his occupation: a butcher, as he stood there sharpening his knives.
To my dismay, the floor of the dungeon was strewn with sizable chunks of flesh and bone. Some appeared to belong to animals, particularly lions, while others were unmistakably human. Intrigued and somewhat disturbed, I sought answers. It was then that the man turned towards me, meeting my inquisitive stare, and solemnly uttered, “It’s gruesome.”
Deciphering the Significance
Upon awakening and reflecting on this perplexing dream, I initially contemplated its symbolism as a metaphor for transformation and shedding our former selves. However, as I sit here now, editing this account for my blog, I recognize the true significance lies within the presence of steel and the knife-sharpener.
Proverbs 27:17 resonates with profound truth, stating, “Iron sharpens iron, so one person sharpens another.” As I edit this post on September 20, 2020, I realize that until recently, I remained oblivious to the depth of this verse’s meaning. It took me months to comprehend that by nurturing loving thoughts and intentions toward others, we uplift and fulfill our purpose. Throughout the Bible, this purpose is intricately woven into symbolic narratives, a revelation that gradually unfolds for those willing to seek it. It may sound bewildering, but it is an experience I am earnestly undergoing.
